Two Fresno State Mass Communications and Journalism students were selected to serve on the official news team covering the Excellence in Journalism Conference, Sept. 16-20 in New Orleans. Natalie Nigg and Jordan Kemp competed against students nationwide to secure their spots on the 14 person team. They are among 11 broadcast journalism and multimedia production students from the Fresno State Radio and Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) club who are attending the national conference, hosted by RTDNA, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Native American Journalists Association. The news team’s stories about the conference are published online at EIJ News and on several social media sites under the hashtags #EIJ16 and #EIJNews. The conference, which hosts top news professionals from broadcast, print and digital newsrooms around the country, offers workshops and networking opportunities for students interested in journalism careers. Students are given an opportunity to present their work to news directors, editors, talent coaches and agents. The Fresno State students received financial support for the trip from an Instructionally Related Activities grant through the Associated Students, Inc. INFO: Faith Sidlow at fmsidlow@csufresno.edu.
