CEDAR RAPIDS - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will join Sen. Joni Ernst at her second annual Roast and Ride Aug. 27 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
'Iowa will play an important role in 2016, and I look forward to rallying together with fellow Iowans to hear from this exciting lineup of speakers about ways to ensure America is always a strong, stabilizing force around the globe,” said Ernst, a freshman Republican.
Trump will join a lineup that includes Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann, Gov. Terry Branstad, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, Sen. Chuck Grassley, Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer, Iowa U.S. House Reps. Rod Blum, David Young and Steve King, and 2nd District candidate Chris Peters.
Trump will not participate in the motorcycle ride, event organizers said.
Last year, the inaugural Roast and Ride attracted about 1,500 people, including 300 motorcyclists who rode with Ernst from Des Moines to Boone.
Tickets are $20 and available at www.RoastAndRide.com. Barbecue, beverages, parking, entertainment and the option to participate in the Ride are included in the price of admission. Times, locations and details about the ride can be found on the website.
The barbecue will feature family-friendly activities and entertainment, including performances by The Nadas.
