Happy retirement, Big Fundamental

Post-Dispatch (Ben Frederickson): The time Tim Duncan torched the Tigers

The box score showed a dominant double-double. The game story showed one ticked-off Tigers coach.

Duncan, the Demon Deacons' 6-foot-10 All-America center, was "really a good basketball player," according to Stormin' Norm Stewart, who couldn't help but point out his belief the future No. 1 pick in the NBA draft received whistles his players didn't.

"(The officials) seem to recognize who he is, though," Stewart said in Vahe Gregorian's account for the Post-Dispatch. "He's got a nice reputation. We need one of our guys to have that."

You can find the box score to this game here. Duncan was unbelievable, Wake freshman (and St. Louis native) Loren Woods had 10 points and four rebounds, and Mizzou's Jason Sutherland kept Mizzou in striking distance, going 7-for-13 on 3-pointers and scoring 23 points. (And yes, Mizzou was whistled for 21 fouls to Wake's 12.)
