WEDNESDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

Dodgers 4, Nationals 3: Yasiel Puig raced home for the winning run on his own single after center fielder Michael Taylor let the ball skip by him for a three-base error, and Los Angeles rallied to beat Washington. Puig broke into a sprint at first base after Taylor overran the rolling single to left-center field. Howie Kendrick scored easily from first base, and Puig dove home to beat the throw from the outfield and give the Dodgers their fifth comeback win in six games.

Rangers 6, Reds 4: Cole Hamels won again for Texas on the same day it found out two of its other starting pitchers are going on the disabled list. Earlier, Texas put Derek Holland on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation. Then general manager Jon Daniels said Colby Lewis has a strained lat muscle and will be going on the D.L .as well.

Yankees 9, Rockies 8: Starlin Castro hit a game-winning home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth, and the Yankees rallied to beat Colorado.

Cardinals 7, Cubs 2: Michael Wacha pitched into the seventh inning for his first win in nearly two months and St. Louis waited out Jake Arrieta before roughing up Chicago’s bullpen.

Astros 3, Angels 2: Jose Altuve homered and Marwin Gonzalez’s tiebreaking RBI triple in the eighth inning helped Houston to its fifth straight win.

Mets 4, Royals 3: Noah Syndergaard left his start after six innings with a sore elbow and Yoenis Cespedes came out because of an aching wrist, yet New York held off Kansas City for a two-game sweep in their World Series rematch.

Blue Jays 5, Diamondbacks 2: Russell Martin hit a three-run homer, Edwin Encarnacion and Troy Tulowitzki added solo shots, and Toronto snapped Arizona’s five-game winning streak.

Tigers 5, Mariners 1: Steven Moya homered twice, and Detroit withstood a shaky fifth inning from right-hander Michael Fulmer.
