Bruins Land 14th Pick In 2016 NHL Draft

BOSTON (CBS) -- For the sixth time in franchise history, the Boston Bruins own the 14th overall pick in the NHL Draft.

The B's, who missed the playoffs for the second straight season, learned their draft fate at Saturday night's NHL Draft Lottery in Toronto. Boston had just a one percent chance at landing the top pick and a 3.4 percent chance at landing in the top three on Saturday night.

This marks the second straight year the Bruins own the 14th overall pick. They drafted winger Jake DeBrusk at No. 14 overall in 2015.

The other four times the Bruins owned the 14th overall pick were in 1987, when they drafted Stephane Quintal, in 1981 when they took Normand Leveille, in 1975 when they selected Douglas Halward and, most notably, in 1971 when they drafted fan favorite and future Bruins captain Terry O'Reilly.

The 2016 NHL Entry Draft begins on June 24, 2016 in Buffalo, New York.
