Sharpton no role model for former prisoners | Letter

Civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton has been invited to speak at the Prisoner Re-entry gathering in Jersey City.

Former governor Jim McGreevey's campaign to assist ex-inmates is a worthy project.  He inflicts a disservice, however, on its integrity by inviting Rev. Al Sharpton to speak at his annual gathering.

Wild horses couldn't drag me to listen to the lying rabble rouser unless he admits that he wasted New York State thousands of dollars and impugned reputations over the phony Tawana Brawley rape charges, and that he incited the Freddy's Department store lunatic whose arson took eight lives in 1995. Or how he defrauds the government of taxes without incrimination.

The only thing of value Sharpton can admit is that he is a criminal who has avoided incarceration.  He's no role model for former inmates.
