K.S. Paripoornan, former judge of the Supreme Court, died here on Wednesday. He was 83.
Mr. Paripoornan had been admitted to Medical Trust Hospital here on Tuesday with kidney and cardiac problems. His condition turned worse Wednesday evening. The death occurred around 9.05 p.m., according to hospital authorities. His wife, Padma, had passed away six months ago. Family members said that the final rites would be performed at the Ravipuram crematorium here on Thursday.
Born on June 12, 1932, Mr. Paripoornan enrolled as an advocate in the High Court of Travancore-Cochin on June 11, 1956. He undertook cases relating to civil, taxation, and general matters in Kerala High Court and occasionally in the Supreme Court and Tribunal.
Mr. Paripoornan worked as a government counsel in the Kerala High Court from July, 1966 to February, 1980. He was appointed a permanent judge of the Kerala High Court on December 23, 1982. He was appointed Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and assumed office on January 24, 1994. He was appointed Supreme Court judge on June 11, 1994. — Special Correspondent
